We are dedicated to developing Hawaii’s youth through the promotion of civic responsibility, personal development and community service. On July 31, 1985 Optimist Club of Honolulu , chartered its first club in Hawaii known as Honolulu Optimist International(H.O.I.). 


Optimist Club of Honolulu is a community service organization which is part of Optimist International. OCH consist of about 30 members, mainly from Hawaii and Los Angeles.

 

Optimist International consists of about 114,000 members with over 3500 clubs spanning across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects each year, serving six million young people. 


Optimist also spend $78 million on their communities annually. Its motto, “Friend of Youth” is exemplified by its various programs for the youth such as Youth Appreciation Week, the Oratorical Contest, Bike Safety Week, the Hawaii Optimist Qualifying International Junior Golf Tournament, Youth Clubs, Respect for Law, Tri-Star Sports, and Essay Contest, Millineum Children Congress.
